Downtown Toronto, Financial District
TD Dominion Centre / King St
Mies van der Rohe's towers and a King Street streetcar rolling past, the city at its most cinematic.

Field Notes
Shooting at TD Dominion Centre / King St.
TD Centre is where I send couples who want the city itself in their photos. Mies van der Rohe designed the towers, and it is still the most cinematic block downtown. If you would rather have glass and clean lines than gardens, this is your spot.
I usually start in the courtyards around the towers, then work toward King Street West. The variety inside a few blocks is what makes it work. Modern towers on one side, older brick buildings and narrow side streets on the other. If a couple wants some green to balance the glass, St. James Park is close by.
Light matters here more than at most locations. Golden hour puts warm light on the glass. Blue hour turns the whole district moody. It photographs beautifully at night too. I tell couples to come on a weekend if they can. The streets are quieter and nobody is rushing the shot.
One of my favourite frames from a session here is a couple crossing King Street with a streetcar passing right behind them. You cannot stage that timing. You watch the tracks, wait, and take the shot when it comes.
The practical stuff: no permit needed. Plan for paid parking. Expect a medium walk with some stairs and movement between areas. And it works year-round. The architecture does not care what month it is.
